Around 20 Malaysian companies have shown their interest to invest in Bangladesh mainly in the manufacturing industries. Md Alamgir Jalil, president, Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI), said big conglomerates in Malaysia expressed their interest to invest in manufacturing industries, infrastructure, furniture and IT sectors at the Bangladesh trade and investment summit 2016 held in December 2016 at Kuala Lumpur. The summit focused on trade and investment practices, opportunities and challenges for major stakeholders – both private and public. Two MoUs have been signed for joint venture investment in real estate and solar energy. Bangladesh’s export is expected to increase by 10-15 percent. To promote bilateral trade, BMCCI is going to organize a fair to showcase Malaysian products on September 21-23 in cooperation with the Malaysia High Commission in Bangladesh.
