n agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of Bangladesh on the Establishment of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was signed in the capital on March 1. State minister for foreign affairs, Md. Shahriar Alam, signed the agreement on behalf of the Bangladesh government in the presence of foreign minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, and ambassador of Russia to Bangladesh Alexander Ignatov. Deputy minister for Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Alexey Gruzdev, (not in the picture) had earlier signed the agreement from the Russian side. The aim of the commission is to develop broad-based cooperation in various spheres of relations between Russia and Bangladesh. It will facilitate the diversification of bilateral trade, economic, scientific and technical ties between the business communities of the two countries and help remove barriers to mutual trade, while bolstering the exchange of information between the parties.
