Biman Bangladesh Airlines has continued with its profi t in the second consecutive fi scal, as the national carrier registered a profi t of BDT2.76 billion in the fi scal year 2015-16.
In 2014-15, Biman had made a profi t of BDT3.24 billion. The annual general meeting of the national fl ag carrier recently approved the fi nancial calculation, said Biman’s general manager for public relations Shakil Meraj. In FY16, the state-run carrier earned a revenue of BDT46.45 billion. During the period, Biman has ferried a total of 2.3 million passengers, which was 2 million in 2014-15. Besides, Biman has shipped 40,911 metric tonnes of cargo, but the fi gure could not be increased due to a temporary ban on direct freight to London since January 8, said Shakil Meraj. During the fi scal, Biman has attained 69 percent on time performance, he added. Biman is now running its operation with 10 widebody and 2 narrow-body aircrafts to 15 international and 7 domestic destinations.
